We hope you’ve had a wonderful summer! We’ve had a busy season full of wonderful events at our boutique event venue, Hacienda222, including the beautiful wedding of Monet & Teressa.
Hurricane Season
Puerto Rico had an unwelcome visitor last week, when Tropical Storm Ernesto passed by. Ernesto was quite the gentleman and didn’t cause much trouble during his brief stay on the island, just a bit of rain and flooding. We know that sensational, click-bait news coverage is sometimes the only information available to you about events in Puerto Rico, so we want to assure you that all is well, and very beautiful!
Hurricane season is part of living in the tropics. Our business, as well as many others on the island, has generators, private water supplies, and other systems in place so that passing storms have little to no impact on your visit to Puerto Rico. At Hacienda222, we also are set up with solar panels and a rainwater collection system so that as soon as a storm passes, we can host an event, and we have! You can read about a few of our events that happened just before and after storms here and here. For more insight into hurricane season in Puerto Rico, check out our recent blog:
We recommend traveling to Puerto Rico at the time that works best for your life and planning, and not making travel decisions around the weather. Read more about the pros & cons of events in our different seasons here:
Jocelyn & Ryan
Most days during hurricanes season are filled with sunshine and fresh sea breezes, like Jocelyn & Ryan’s festive wedding weekend.
We met Jocelyn & Ryan via a video tour of Hacienda222 in August of 2023. From Austin, TX, they were planning a destination wedding and considering Puerto Rico for its ease of travel and because they love Bad Bunny. We exchanged emails and video calls in the year leading up to their wedding. Importantly, they wanted a wedding team who would take care of everything for them, with no need to visit the property or take stressful trips back and forth to Puerto Rico to wrangle wedding vendors and figure things out on their own. They simply told us what they wanted, and we made it happen!
Jocelyn & Ryan’s celebration began with a welcome dinner on Friday night for their friends and family who had traveled to be with them during their big day.
A welcome dinner (think rehearsal dinner without the rehearsing), rehearsal dinner, or farewell brunch can be a perfect way for your guests to get to know each other before and after your wedding. It can also be a fun and helpful way to fill up your guest’s itinerary so they can enjoy the island and all her charms!
Incidentally, we have a helpful visitor’s guide for you and your guests that includes information on which airport to fly to, transportation recommendations, places to stay, things to do, and much more!
Having a welcome dinner helped Jocelyn & Ryan be extra relaxed for their big day!
Jocelyn & Ryan shared this about their experience at Hacienda222:
“Joanna, Ashley, and the rest of the Hacienda222 team were fantastic! We hosted our Welcome Dinner and Wedding at the venue, and everything was great … The food, drinks, photographer, cake, music, view, and people were all top notch. If you are skeptical about booking rest assured the Hacienda222 team is professional and fully earned our trust. Our family and friend group count was about 50 and they all agreed as well. Big thank you to the team for making our day special!”
